Wingwave

wingwave® is a sustainable and efficient coaching method that combines three elements: the Myostatic Test (muscle test), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (#NLP) and Bilateral Hemispheric Stimulation. While EMDR is used in the psychotherapeutic field, wingwave® is a short-term coaching method for releasing inner blockages and changing beliefs.

The wingwave® method is a performance and emotion coaching that leads to success in a comparably short time. This effect is achieved through a seemingly simple basic intervention: the creation of “awake” REM phases (Rapid Eye Movement), which we humans normally only go through during nighttime dream sleep. The coach guides the coachee’s gaze horizontally back and forth with rapid hand movements, also called “waving”. As an alternative to “waving”, the coach sometimes also works with bilateral tones or light tapping techniques called “tapping” for the process flow.

wingwave® is derived from EMDR therapy, which is approved by health insurance companies in Germany and must therefore meet the strictest scientific criteria. wingwave® itself is an extremely well researched coaching method. Since 2006, its effectiveness has been proven in more than 20 university studies. More information can be found on the wingwave.com website.

It is assumed that the learning process, information processing and stress management are closely linked to REM sleep. Some experiences are inadequately processed and remain as a so-called stress imprint. It triggers unpleasant emotions and memories in us. By creating the “awake REM phases”, processing is subsequently set in motion and the stress imprint is permanently dissolved.

The wingwave® process is supported by the use of language in the form of goal definitions and emotional desire states. The techniques are based on the findings of neurolinguistics.

Another element is the myostatic test. A muscle feedback method that is performed very simply with two fingers. With the myostatic test the exact issue can be determined, that’s why we also talk about pinpoint coaching. In addition, this simple test can be used to check the effectiveness of the intervention.

This short-term coaching is used not only with adults in everyday life, professional or personal goals, sports and other issues (fear of flying, visiting the dentist, golf….), but also with children and adolescents.

Where exactly is the method used with children and adolescents?

  • For school stress, test anxiety and to reduce learning blocks, homeschooling (corona related).
  • To reduce pressure to perform
  • To reduce learning difficulties
  • To reduce behavioral problems
  • To overcome concentration difficulties
  • To remedy sleep problems
  • To cope better with grief
  • For relief in family situations (e.g. parents quarreling or separating, quarreling with siblings, for example)
  • To increase self-esteem or self-confidence
  • To develop emotional balance
  • To find and consolidate one’s own strengths/resources

How does it work for children / teenagers?
I first explain the wingwave technique in a child-friendly way, with examples and small samples. With smaller children, I also like to use finger puppets and other playful tools.
The child first describes from his or her own point of view what is bothering or moving him or her. I work with the myostatic test. Children find this very exciting. The method includes the so-called “waving” and means to follow with the eyes, the fingers or quick hand movements. Children can do this with ease even at the age of 5. How many sessions it takes depends on the child or the adult, but experience shows that there is relief after the first session.
